What Are Checkers Puzzles?

A checkers puzzle presents a board position where you must find the best move — typically a forced capture sequence or a combination that wins material. Regularly solving puzzles is the fastest method for improving tactical vision in checkers, the same way chess players use chess puzzles to sharpen their calculation.

Tactical Patterns You Will Learn

• Multi-jump captures: Positions where a single piece can jump over and remove 3, 4 or more opponent pieces in one turn.
• Sacrifice and gain: Give up one piece to force a sequence that captures 2 or more opponent pieces.
• Fork: A single move that simultaneously threatens two captures, forcing the opponent to lose at least one piece.
• Promotion race: Maneuver a piece to the king row while preventing the opponent from stopping it.
• King endgame technique: Opposition, triangulation, and the move — precise winning and drawing techniques in king-vs-king endings.

Puzzle ELO Rating System

Each puzzle has its own difficulty ELO. Solving it correctly increases your puzzle rating; missing the best move decreases it slightly. This adaptive system ensures you are always working on puzzles at the right challenge level — not too easy, not too frustrating. Your puzzle ELO is tracked separately from your PvP and bot-training ratings.
